Virtual High Schools Gain Traction

Have you ever wondered how different an
experience high school might have been if you
could have completed it online? Virtual high
schools of all types – from state-funded to private
– are steadily changing the face of secondary
education in America.
The Public Side
Primavera Online High School opened in 2001 in
Chandler, Ariz., and today is the largest high
school in the state. Damian Creamer and Vanessa
Baviera founded this nonprofit education institution
and the school now instructs thousands of teens in
Arizona. Tuition is free to Arizona residents
between the ages of 14 and 21. Additionally, the
college is accredited by the North Central
Association Commission on Accreditation and
School Improvement.
